KEF Q550 - tower-style floorstanding speakers. Being the smallest floorstander in KEF's Q Series, its closed-box midrange cabinet design reproduces sound with impressive clarity, scale, and bass punch.
Featuring KEF's patented Uni-Q driver array technology, the speaker sports a 5.25" aluminum bass driver, two matching ABR drivers, and a 1" vented aluminum dome tweeter to deliver phenomenal audiophile-grade performance. The newly upgraded low-frequency drivers incorporate new surrounds and rear suspension for a powerful bass response.
Sporting a new cabinet design, the speaker is draped with a suave stain finish to beautifully blend into any decor. You can use the KEF Q550 a standalone stereo system or part of a multi-channel surround sound setup for large or small rooms.
Highly directional sound by Uni-Q technology
At the heart of this floorstanding speaker is the Uni-Q driver array. It places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone. This brings a single-point source closer than ever to a spatial realization that delivers a detailed and three-dimensional soundscape. The Uni-Q's ultra-wide dispersion is further improved by KEF's 'tangerine' waveguide clubbed with an aluminum dome tweeter.
Improved damped tweeter for clear high-frequency response
Adding a Damped tweeter loading tube in the KEF Q550 provides a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter. Additionally, this further improves lower treble performance dramatically for a clear, crisp, and pleasant high-frequency response.
Beefier bass drivers redesigned from the ground up
The low-frequency (LF) drivers incorporated in the KEF Q550 now have a larger roll surround and a new spider suspension to empowers cleaner bass even at high volumes. A new cone structure improves midrange clarity and an enhanced Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs) delivers a controlled and impressive bass performance.
New cabinet design for an impactful bass performance
In the KEF Q550 floorstanding speaker, the Uni-Q driver is placed in a sealed box within the cabinet. The improved closed-box midrange cabinet design reduces the load on the Uni-Q midrange cone. This significantly increases speaker clarity and detail while delivering a cleaner, more powerful, and punchier bass response. Midrange clarity is further improved via enhancements to the mid-bass driver that takes away the need for a DC blocking capacitor thereby delivering a natural bass roll-off between the drivers.
A stronger plinth included for enhanced stability
Featuring bolt-on plinths, the KEF Q550 floorstanding speaker offers excellent stability when installed. The design stretches out the spikes to give the highest level of stability possible from such a slender speaker. This reduces distortion and the cabinet stays in position even while churning out high decibel levels. The spikes are adjustable from above thereby saving significant time and hassle during installation
